TWIN CITIES

ABOUT US

Trout Unlimited – National:

Trout Unlimited is the leading trout and salmon conservation group in the U.S., with over 140,000 members in 38 states and 400+ grassroot volunteer-based chapters. Based in Arlington, VA, it is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization governed by a Board of Trustees, a grassroots board and a National Leadership Council with a representative from each state. Working together, they provide a powerful strategic plan for watersheds and fisheries throughout the continental U.S. and Alaska.

Twin Cities Trout Unlimited (TCTU):

Twin Cities Trout Unlimited represents 1600 members with 13 active board members working at the both the state level on important environmental legislation and in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.  Our mission is Conserve, Restore and Protect the cold water fisheries throughout the Driftless Region of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa with concentrated efforts in the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Western Wisconsin regions.

At a Restoration Level:

TCTU members and non-member volunteers have already improved hundreds of miles of streams/rivers in Minnesota.  From Trout Run in Troy to Hay Creek in Redwing to the Vermillion in Farmington the positive environmental impact to these resources have been incredible…not only to the watershed itself, but the surrounding habitat.

At a Youth Level:

TCTU knows that to preserve these valuable resources for future generations’ means that we must educate, engage and involve our youth.  Our partnership with Pheasants Forever and MN Lady Slippers develops youth programs such as T.U.N.E Camp (The Ultimate Nature Experience) that allows youth the opportunity get a blend of fun outdoor experiences while learning about the value and importance of preserving and restoring habitat.

At a Community Level:

TCTU also extends its reach beyond conservation and into our community with special events such as:

Project Healing Waters: Designed for the rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans through the sport of fly fishing. <insert link>

Casting for Recovery: provides an opportunity for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by breast cancer to experience physical, emotional, and spiritual healing through retreats in a beautiful natural setting; and learn fly-fishing, a sport for life.

Conserving, Restoring and Protecting our cold water fisheries is all of our responsibilities (fishing and non-fishing public).  Without the support of our TCTU members, donors and volunteers we run the risk of permanently losing these beautiful places.
